Overview and Important Tax Guidance OneCrew can add tax to an Estimate and apply it only to the services or cost items marked as taxable.
After tax is added, the Estimate displays a tax line and a TAX column. A T in the TAX column identifies the items included in the tax calculation.
Business units operating in regions with additional taxes beyond state taxes may already have those taxes built into their costs.
Add Tax to an Estimate Open the Project and select the Estimate. Open the three-dot menu beside Add Service. Select Add tax. Confirm that the tax line appears at the bottom of the Estimate and the TAX column appears beside the cost items. The tax line displays the tax name, rate, and calculated amount. Only items marked with a T are included in the calculation.
Apply or Remove Tax on Services and Items Tax can be applied to an entire service or to an individual cost item.
Apply Tax to a Service Expand the service. Open the three-dot menu beside the service name. Select Add tax. Confirm that a T appears for the taxable items in that service. Apply Tax to an Individual Cost Item Expand the service containing the item. Open the three-dot menu beside the cost item. Select Add tax. Confirm that a T appears for that item. To remove tax, open the same menu and select Remove tax.
Change the Tax Rate or Name Change the Tax Rate Locate the tax line at the bottom of the Estimate. Click the percentage in the RATE column. Enter the new rate and click outside the field. Confirm that the tax amount recalculates. Rename the Tax Open the three-dot menu beside the tax name. Select Rename tax. Enter the new tax name. Click Save. The customized tax name and rate appear on proposals and invoices generated from the Estimate.
Troubleshooting Tax Is Not Appearing Confirm that taxes are enabled under Settings > Estimates and that Add tax was selected on the Estimate.
Tax Calculation Looks Incorrect Confirm that the correct items show a T in the TAX column and verify the tax rate on the Estimate.
Tax Name Is Too Generic Rename the tax on the Estimate so the proposal and invoice display a more specific label.
